Experience: I have 15 years of classroom teaching experience. The past 13 years as a 6th grade Social Studies teacher in south Texas. I began my career in South Korea as an ESL teacher for 2 years.
Teaching Style: I try to make my lessons super-engaging and fun for students, but also challenging and thought-provoking at the same time. I love to create Social Studies material that is enjoyable to learn and instills a love of knowledge in my students. I always follow a 5-E format (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate) to make sure my students are involved in their learning.
Additional Bio Info: I have wanderlust & have visited 26 nations around the world so far! I try to integrate experiences from these travels into my lessons to bring the world to life for my students! I graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas with concentrations in Anthropology and Spanish. In college I spent a year abroad. I am a Semester at Sea alumna- I literally sailed around the world on a floating university while studying the cultures and places we visited. It was just as awesome as it sounds! I also spent a semester with the School for International training where I lived with and studied the indigenous people of Chile.
