The activities are engaging for students & the guided, 5-E format is easy for you to use! Begin with a “Password” warm-up exploring the idea of “government”, then introduce big ideas about the role of a government in society. Fill-in notes accompany the lesson. Next, the “Island Challenge” lets students experience the difficulties of establishing a government. As a group of castaways on a deserted island, they must work together to organize their new society if they want to survive! Finally, check for understanding and evaluate learning with an “Exit Ticket” activity. Print & interactive, digital versions of the materials are included.
